A message from Dorel Juvenile Group to parents and caregivers regarding the recent infant child restraint/carrier voluntary recall:

The Infant Child Restraint is safe for use in a vehicle as it meets and exceeds all crash safety standards put forth by the US government. The recall affects only the handle portion of the infant child restraint /carrier. It does not affect the crash worthiness of the infant child restraint/carrier. Please continue to use the infant child restraint/carrier in your vehicle as it does meet and exceed all crash safety standards put forth by the US Government.

As parents ourselves, we understand your concern about anything potentially involving your child’s safety. On Friday, December 18, 2009, Dorel Juvenile Group announced a voluntary safety recall in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) for certain infant child restraints/carriers sold with Safety 1st®, Cosco, Eddie Bauer® and Disney® branded travel systems.

Models affected were manufactured January 6, 2008 through April 6, 2009 and can be found on the safety notice shown below.

DJG reassures parents and caregivers that the infant child restraint/carrier is safe for travel in the car, and that this recall ONLY involves the handle portion of the carrier. The stroller portion of the travel system is also safe for continued use. DJG is urging parents to obtain the fix kit as soon as possible for the handle defect, but to feel confident in their continued use of the infant car seat in their vehicle. The kit may be obtained by calling (866) 762-3316 or by visiting our website: www.djgusa.com/usa/eng/Safety-Notices.

At Dorel Juvenile Group, our foremost objective is to maintain open and transparent communication with our consumers. If you think your car seat model may be affected, please call us at (866) 762-3316 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit www.djgusa.com/usa/eng/Safety-Notices for more information.
